Meet Chelsea. She's with Facebook. And She's Keynoting #iMEDIA19!
Meet your final Keynote Speaker!
*insert happy dance here*
Sharing this Keynote announcement is *kind of a big deal* for us. You know how we feel about Keynote Speakers. And we know you know (we know you know #phoebe4life 😉) because we tell you every time we share a Keynote announcement with you! 😊
We spend months working to finalize the details with our Keynotes - and honestly, sometimes discussions with Keynotes go on over the course of a couple of years! - then the day comes when it’s time to share the good news with the iMEDIA Community.
✅ The blog post is drafted.
✅ The newsletter is scheduled.
✅ The tweets are queued to go out.
…and then we wait to see your reaction.
The reason this announcement is such a big deal for us is because, friends, today we get to tell you that Facebook will be Keynoting this year’s conference! And with that, we introduce you to Chelsea Klukas. Your final Keynote for #iMEDIA19.
Chelsea is a product design manager at Facebook and an interdisciplinary technology-focused artist. In addition to building great products, she is passionate about building design culture in data-driven environments and driving processes to innovate at scale.
Klukas is also the co-founder of MakeFashion, a wearable technology startup that brings high tech and high fashion to the runway. MakeFashion has created over 100 wearable tech garments and has produced runway shows across the world including New York, Shenzhen, and Rome. Her “Lumen Couture” projector hat, a hat that includes real-time projection mapping and visual inputs to display video on a dress, has gained international attention as the first of its kind. Klukas has also recently launched her own line of ready-to-wear fashion technology.
Prior to Facebook, Klukas was a UX design manager at Amazon focused on social consumer products including Amazon Spark and Echo Look. Before Amazon she was the creative director of BeauCoo, a social shopping startup that helped women find clothes that fit, and design lead at Poynt, a cross-platform location-based app with 20M users that pioneered augmented reality features in the early days of iOS.
Over the past few decades, the definition of design and marketing has rapidly evolved with advances in technology. From print, to web, to mobile, the roles of marketers has shifted, as have the tools, skills, and challenges they face every day.
As interfaces continue to expand beyond handheld devices, what will the industry be in 5 or 10 years from now?
Chelsea’s Keynote Beyond Screens: Design and Marketing of the Future will explore formats that are already emerging and will become increasingly relevant in the future including voice, biometrics, and artificial intelligence. It will highlight the challenges that creators in this space face, the tools and skills that are needed, and what you can do now to get up to speed with these developing fields.
We are so excited to welcome Chelsea to the iMEDIA Community and cannot wait to learn from her at #iMEDIA19.
Now, you know the drill. Hop on over to Twitter and say hi to Chelsea! She’s a self-described full-time pizza expert so be sure to tell her your favourite #yeg pizza spots when you introduce yourself. 🍕🍕🍕
