iMEDIA's very on-brand list of 9 things you should do in #YEG

You already know that #iMEDIA19 is all about exploring the digital landscape but #YEG has a lot of great non-digital exploring too!

Friends, it’s time to take a break from answering all those DMs and get a change of scenery. Here is our very on-brand list of 9 thing you should do in #YEG. And yes, coffee, popcorn and Instagrammable walls all make the cut.

  1. Check out an Instagrammable wall

If you don’t snap a pic, how will we know you actually left the office? iMEDIA BFF (and emcee extraordinaire!) @lindork, aka Linda Hoang, has explored nearly every Instagrammable wall there is! Check out Linda’s guide to the most Instagrammable walls in #YEG

  2. Get caffeinated at Credo

Because we all know you haven’t had enough coffee today… 😉

  3. Eat a donut

It’s been a long winter and you deserve 👏to 👏treat👏yo 👏self! After you’ve caffeinated, head out on a donut quest. Of course, we’re going to recommend Doughnut Party because we ❤️ them and, um, wow (!!) but there are so many amazing donut shops popping up around the city. 🍩🍩🍩

  4. Check out the Art Gallery of Alberta

The Art Gallery of Alberta always has so many great exhibitions and fun fact: you can take a free tour on Tuesday & Wednesday nights!

  5. Go for a walk in the river valley. It’s the most Edmonton thing you can do!

Stretch those legs and take a walk over the #iconic High Level Bridge or across Walt Jr. When you get to the other side, wander down into the river valley trails to do some exploring of your own! It’s so beautiful down there and there are so many walking paths to discover.

  6. Eat good food (you know #yeg has an endless supply of incredible restaurants)

Now friends, I bet you are hungry after all that adventuring. And, well, the donuts have already been burned off it’s time to eat again. If you’re in the mood for some pub food, head over to The Next Act to try their amazing Smoked Chicken Sandwich or step out of the box and get the PB&J Burger!

If pub food isn’t really your thing, check out Bodega on 124th Street for their incredible spread of tapas. You won’t regret it.

  7. Catch a movie at the Princess

Who doesn’t love a good movie on the big screen? Catch a flick at the historic Princess Theatre on Whyte Ave. The films are great, but it’s also an excuse to eat some popcorn (which you know we’re always in for!) 🍿🎥

  8. Lace up your skates and glide across one of Edmonton’s IceWays!

There are so many awesome outdoor skating rinks around #yeg!

  9. Rest your head at the Matrix

Now that you’ve officially explored every corner of #yeg it’s time to rest your head (and charge your devices!) at the Matrix Hotel. The Matrix is located in the heart of downtown Edmonton and is one of our favourite spots in town!
